		<description>The &lt;em&gt;Weekend to End Breast Cancer&lt;/em&gt; gets a new name ... see below for the eNews I received.

eNews October 13th, 2009

The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation part of the University Health Network Presents:

The Weekend to End Women&#039;s Cancers

After a summer of confounding weather, the weekend of September 12 and 13 was ideal for the seventh annual Weekend To End Breast Cancer, which saw 4,615 participants raise a staggering $11.6 million! My most sincere thank you to all our walkers, crew, volunteers, sponsors and our most generous donor community, who responded in a significant manner to help The Princess Margaret continue its mission to conquer cancer in our lifetime!

For the 2010 event, you will start to hear the evolutionary change we&#039;ve made in the event name. The event will now be called THE WEEKEND TO END WOMEN&#039;S CANCERS. This change reflects the fact that walkers
will now have the option to designate whether the money they raise goes to breakthrough breast cancer research, treatment and care, or to gynecologic cancers, traditionally, an under-funded area. By offering
the choice, the event gives participants a sense of empowerment. In addition, research has revealed a direct link between breast cancer and ovarian cancer. By broadening the scope to fight all women&#039;s
cancers, the event can have a bigger impact and affect more lives.

Also, a one-day walk has been added to our traditional two-day event, introducing The Weekend to new walkers who may not have been able to participate in the past for any number of reasons.

In this newsletter, Dr. Tak Mak elaborates on the exciting news that links breast cancer to ovarian cancer. You&#039;ll also learn about The Princess Margaret&#039;s landmark efforts in BioBanking, and how this important initiative is contributing to cancer research. We will introduce you to Sharon Ingle, a Weekend participant whose determination has allowed her to compete as an elite athlete while defeating breast cancer and we&#039;ll also share with you the extraordinary response we&#039;ve had to our PMHF &#039;In Our Lifetime&#039;
commercials.

So, on behalf of The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, I thank you very much for your support. It is essential as we continue our work to conquer cancer in our lifetime.
