Yes, I definitely know what you mean ... it's not that I'm darn happy to be alive ... it's that the medical community doesn't seem to give a damn that I am alive and they act as if I'm wasting their precious time from paying customers ... errrr um, paying patients :)

The few very big issues I have with a TRAM flap is that 1) I lose 1 or both abdonimal muscles, 2) a multi-stage process that is more painful than the mastectomy itself, 3) recovery time is months, not weeks, 4) if the flap(s) fails and you no longer have abdominal muscles to spare, we're left with a flat chest AND the inability to sit up! Yikes, that's a horrible picture I just envisioned!

Thanks for the note!

Hi from the other end of the country!
I'm waiting on my 2nd ps consultation. Last April I had my first and yes, don't they make you feel like a piece of meat that they are obligated to work on and you'll wait until they are good and ready.
I am none too pleased that my body looks like a scarred tube, which doesn't mean I'm ungrateful for surviving breast cancer. I have a choice, implants or flat chest. I really haven't decided which is worse.
