Is There a Cancer Patient on your Shopping List?

I like the colour pink.

Almost 19 years ago I bought a bright pink original Lundstrom “Laparka”. I wear pink high-tops. I like wearing pink lip gloss when playing tennis. I like being a girl.

The irony is not lost on me that I love pink, wear pink and now have breast cancer.

Since I’m still house-bound, I thought I would try to find some fun and funky pink t-shirts … yay, spring is coming!

I was surprised that it didn’t take me long to find a Canadian company — normally I give up after hours trying to find anything canuck online. I found Rainbow of Hope Canada, located in Thornhill, Ontario.

I bought myself 3 or 4 t-shirts and can’t wait to get them! The t-shirt that really said that’s you, Barb (okay, I don’t normally talk about myself in the third person) was the one that said “I didn’t survive CANCER to die of STRESS” … now that sounds like the perfect saying for me!

Now that I’m down almost 15 pounds since surgery …

Check out Rainbow of Hope as I’m sure you’ll find something great for the cancer survivor on your shopping list.

Disclaimer: I do not know anyone at Rainbow of Hope and am not receiving any compensation for mentioning them on my blog.

I am affiliated with I Need Great Ideas who can custom print ribbon magnets for your business or event. If you purchase any pink ribbons through I Need Great Ideas, mention this blog and I’ll donate 10% of the sale to the Breast Cancer Society of Canada and will email you a copy of the receipt to show my sincerity.

Post-Surgery Mastectomy Undergarments. Hey Lady, Put Your Boobs On.

I had a great roommate at the hospital — we had the same surgeon, same surgery and same breast removed. We got along great together — and her children are wonderful, too.

It was during this time I found about “post-surgery camisoles”.

Of all the reading I did, both online and offline, it never even occurred to me that I may need some type of undergardments for a month or 2 until the wounds have healed.

No one tells you anything!

It’s only been 2 weeks today since my surgery and I’m still unable to drive, so can’t go to any of these places yet — too bad because now that I’m going to appointments again, it would be nice to have some proper undergarments — especially ones where I can tuck the drains in.

I found a few local mastectomy stores online, but I don’t quite know what I need since I’ve never had cancer before.

I leave a message for one store that’s not very far from me, who also has an online store, asking if they can guide me through the purchase process (and sizing, etc.) and haven’t heard back from them. That was 4 days ago.

Ahhh, I hear back from the store owner tonight and she’ll be here on Monday to fit me — so all is right with me and retailers now.

If you find yourself in a similiar situation, I highly recommend that you seek out retailers BEFORE SURGERY who can help with post-surgery mastectomy garments.

There’s nothing I can do now, but I hope this will help someone else.
